René Beetsma – 1969
René has been competing in Masters swimming since the age of 25; at the time, younger swimmers could not participate as there were no categories for swimmers aged 20 and over.
He is a versatile swimmer who masters all strokes, making him particularly notable in the individual medley. René competes across all distances, from sprint to long-distance events, never shying away from the tougher races.
In 2003, he set Dutch Masters records in both short course and long course for the 200m butterfly. He has also been a consistent and valued member of relay teams for DZ&PC and later HZ&PC Heerenveen.
Over the years, René has taken part in numerous competitions both nationally and internationally, particularly in the Zuyderzee Circuit, the Dutch National Masters Championships (ODMC), and the European and World Masters Championships (EMC and WMC).
Only in 2021 (due to COVID-19) and 2024 (due to health reasons) did René miss competitions, but in 2025 he returned to competition and is once again swimming actively.
Marjan Remmits-de Lange – 1963
As a youth swimmer, Marjan was among the national top at PSV. It was during this time that she met her partner Johan, and when their children started swimming in the early 2000s, she was persuaded to compete in a race alongside her daughter in 2007.
It took a little while before she discovered Masters swimming. She made her Masters debut in early 2013 in Eindhoven, and since then, she has fully embraced competitive swimming once again.
Since then, Marjan has built an impressive track record, collecting numerous national and international medals and records.
Delia Badoux – 1980
Delia transitioned to Masters swimming at the age of 26 after a background in competitive swimming.
Initially focusing on national competitions, she soon discovered the international Masters scene, often travelling to events with her swimming partner Roos and her sister Laura.
She has achieved notable success in the shorter freestyle and butterfly events, setting many records and earning various international honours.
A remarkable achievement is that, at the age of 44, Delia swam under the one-minute mark for the first time in a Masters event, making her the oldest Dutch woman to do so.
Besides her sporting achievements, Delia is also active within her club. She helped organise the Dutch National Masters Championships (ODMC) in The Hague in 2014, 2018, and 2024.
